Optional: go mobile (Expo)

Now you'll start a mobile app with Expo. This is optional and separate from your site.

Before you start

  • You finished the track (or at least step 3, so you have your colours)
  • Node.js 22.20 or newer
  • The Expo Go app on your phone (App Store or Google Play)

Do it

Type each command on its own and wait for it to finish before the next one.

Create the app in a new folder, next to your site (not inside it).

bash
npx create-expo-app@latest my-app

Expected output

text
✅ Your project is ready!
To run your project, navigate to the directory and run one of the following npm commands.
bash
cd my-app
npx expo start

Expected output

text
› Metro waiting on exp://192.168.1.10:8081
› Scan the QR code above with Expo Go (Android) or the Camera app (iOS)

If you see an error: if your phone cannot connect, make sure it is on the same Wi-Fi as your computer, or press s and choose the tunnel option.

Scan the QR code with your phone. The starter app opens in Expo Go.

Reuse your look

Copy your brand colours from site/.vitepress/theme/tokens.css into a small theme.ts in the app, for example:

ts
export const colors = { brand: '#e2550f', accent: '#7c5cff' };

Result

A mobile app runs on your phone and uses your brand colours.
